Recently we have had several classrooms post projects to DonorsChoose. DonorsChoose is a web site that allows teachers to post requests for funding for classroom projects and equipment. I am happy to report that these projects have been funded.
Recently staff have been researching how movement can enhance learning. Specifically how student seating can be optimized to allow for this. (Article: Beware of the Sitting Trap in Learning and Schooling )For example, Mrs. Keefer’s classroom has been experimenting with yoga balls for student seating. In February Ms. Davis attended a workshop and learned of a stool called the Hokki Stool, which provides students with seating that allows for movement, much like a yoga ball, but with more stability and also at the same time taking up less space. After researching this type of seating, the project requests were posted
Through DonorsChoose we have received 30 new stools for our tech lab, 6 stools for our Learning Center, 7 stools in Ms. Kennedy’s classroom, and 15 stools in Ms. Jen’s classroom.
We thank all those that contributed to these projects through DonorsChoose.
