Dr. King Day of Service

January 16, 2012

On January 16, 2012 we held our annual Dr. King Service Day. Each year for the past 5 years, we have used the occasion of the Dr. King Holiday to provide our students, staff and families with an opportunity to honor the memory of Dr. King by giving service to our school through a garden work party event. Today, as in past years, we worked to prune branches and clean up areas of our Outdoor Center.

We had a great turnout and got a lot of work done. We thank all of our volunteers, staff and students who were able to participate and also special thanks to Julie Gray for her work coordinating the event.

This year our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students had the opportunity to work with musicians Kate Finn and Rick Weiss to each write, produce, and record a song. We have compiled all 7 songs onto a CD available for purchase. The cost is $5 and the funds raised will go to support arts and technology programs at Lewis.

Please consider purchasing one. The CD's are available in the school office and will also be sold at upcoming school events.
