I am writing to inform you of several staff additions since school closed for the year.

Tracy Buckley will join our staff as our new school secretary, replacing Kathy Grahn who retired at the end of the year.

Ron Soliz, scheduled to teach 5th grade at Lewis this year has decided to take a position at Peninsula School, and as a result I am pleased to report the Sylvia Jen will join our staff teaching 5th grade in Room 24. Sylvia joins us from Roseway Heights and before that taught at Rose City Park.

With the departure of Linda Parks, our kindergarten vacancy has been will be filled by Dana Jacobsen. Dana has extensive background in Kindergarten and most recently taught at Chief Joseph Elementary in PPS. She is currently helping coordinate the PPS Summer Academies for kindergarten and first grade students.

I am happy to report that Sarah Kohn has been hired to serve as a part time basic skills support teacher. This position opportunity became available at the end of the school year, when the Board indicated that Lewis, along with several other Title I schools, should receive an additional .5 FTE for full day kindergarten and directed that funds already allocated out of Title I for full day kindergarten be redirected in the building. With this change we were able to post a part time Title I support teacher position.

In addition, our day Custodian Bob Sykes has taken an evening position at Benson High School. I am happy to report that Sandy Apon has been hired as our new day custodian.
